A perfect fit for safety

The JMDA Vehicle Fitting Services database continues to grow, with the addition of over 40 new or revised vehicles across all major segments in 2015, including Ford’s EcoSport and new Mondeo, KIA’s new Sorento and the new Smart ForFour. In particular, the gradual introduction of ‘i-Size’ cars is an important development being followed by JDMA, with the Ford EcoSport and new Mondeo, for example, being introduced as i-Size compatible. Further focus has been on virtual reality glasses the growing number of hybrid electric vehicles, such as Mitsubishi’s Outlander PHEV and new hybrid/battery electric variants of existing vehicles. In addition, the increase in 7-seat passenger vehicles in the MPV and SUV sectors has been an increasingly important part of JMDA’s research, including the new Mercedes V-Class and Land Rover Discovery Sport, particularly as some even have Isofix attachments in the 3rd row seats.

JMDA’s research into CRS vehicle-fitting and the associated safety of installations continues, with participation in last December’s TÜV SÜD-sponsored ‘International Conference on Protection of Children in Cars’ in Munich and a research paper on CAD vehicle environments submitted to conference members from all over the world.
